Boat Polishing Mallorca
Squadron Mastercare is widely regarded as having the finest boat polishing team in Mallorca, and we intend keeping it that way, which is why we go to such exhaustive lengths when polishing our customer’s boats.
As much as boat owners enjoy seeing the imposing presence of their polished boat glistening on cyrstal clear blue sea, the longevity of such a stunning image is completely dependent on hard work and meticulous professional care.
That same sun which shows off the smooth, glossy, outer gel coat surface is also the same sun that, with time, will cause damage to the gel coat and dull that striking polished shiny finish.
With so much sun and heat in Mallorca, we recommend a full boat polish once every year with a “top up” after 6 months. The hull polishing must be done out of the water but topside polishing can be carried out either in or out of the water.
Squadron Mastercare Boat Polishing Procedure- The boat is lifted out of the water and pressure washed to remove general salt and dirt (it makes sense financially to also antifoul the boat whilst she is out of the water).
- The first boat polishing stage is to compound and prepare the surface of the fibreglass by using a grinding polish or paste which is applied by a buffer machine fitted with a firm foam pad. The boat is then wiped clean.
- The second boat polishing stage is another machine application of polish and wax seal to bring up the shine
- On occasions where the gel has been badly marked or scratched (by fenders for example), a further compound polishing may be required and then the polish with wax seal incorporated to finish.
- The third and final boat polishing stage is to wipe over the boat surface manually with micro fibre cloths.
- The same process is employed for the superstructure / topsides – the entire upper area of the boat including all fibreglass and stainless steel externally and in the cockpit areas, flybridge, coach roof and hardtop roof etc. The stainless steel rails and fixings are polished with an abrasive paste to remove pitting and rust marks.
- Naturally some areas of the boat are subjected to more UV rays, salt corrosion and weathering so we routinely give these areas extra care and attention.
The wax seal provides a protective layer on all surfaces to limit the damage caused by UV rays.
Mastercare staff proudly polish the woods, metals, glass and composites working with only the finest materials available.
